Solvent distillation units use bags made of chemical- and heat-resistant polyamide. When using distillation (solvent recycling, solvent recovery) bags, it is essential to ensure that the chosen size fits your device. The bag can always be larger but not smaller.

In our product range, we offer bags in the following sizes:

  • 400mm x 550mm x 60μ - suitable for distillators with a capacity of 10 - 15 liters
(maximum diameter of the tank 250mm). Item nr: “SOLVRECBAG 400”
  • 450mm x 550mm x 60μ - suitable for distillators with a capacity of 12 - 20 liters
(maximum diameter of the tank 280mm). Item nr: “SOLVRECBAG 450”
  • 540mm x 650mm x 60μ - suitable for distillators with a capacity of 20 – 30  liters
(maximum diameter of the tank 340mm). Item nr: “SOLVRECBAG 540”
  • 660mm x 850mm x 60μ - suitable for distillators with a capacity of up to 40 – 60 liters
(maximum diameter of the tank 410mm). Item nr: “SOLVRECBAG 660”
  • 960mm x 1250mm x 60μ – suitable for distillators with a capacity of up to 200 liters
(maximum diameter of the tank 600mm). Item nr: “SOLVRECBAG 960”

Some distillation unit users experience that certain brands of bags stick to the tank. In most cases, this is caused by the surface treatment of the tank material, which is not suitable for the solvent used. In such cases, it is necessary to use bags with thick walls to prevent the bag from breaking when emptying the tank. Bags are disposable, and we do not recommend using them repeatedly because if there are residues of paint inside the bag, the distillation unit needs to be heated more, and the efficiency of the cleaning process decreases.

Do you have to use distillation bags?

It is not strictly necessary, but without using a bag, the tank must be cleaned after distillation. It is estimated that this takes half an hour (or more), and cleaning the tank is an inconvenient task. Additionally, tank cleaning damages the distillation unit because it requires a lot of scraping and force application. Most distillation unit users opt for single-use.

Why can't bags be used for some devices?

To a limited extent, there are also devices where distillation bags cannot be used. These devices have hydraulic scrapers that constantly move and thereby concentrate solvent residues in the tank. Unfortunately, such devices commonly experience hydraulic problems, and the need for tank cleaning at certain intervals still persists.
