Solvents are widely used for cleaning paint equipment. During the cleaning process of the equipment, the solvent mixes with paint residues, thereby facilitating internal cleaning of the paint device. As a result of this activity, a large amount of expensive and hazardous solvent residues are generated. Typically, the used solvent residues are collected and handed over to a hazardous waste handler. For the next cleaning of the equipment, a new quantity of solvent is purchased. However, the previously described process of solvent use is often not financially and safety-wise sensible.
